Chompers Pediatric & Teen Dentistry: David Herce, DDS

The office is great. It’s very kid friendly with toys and activities to occupy them during the short waiting periods. We never had to wait long and we were seen right on schedule and finished within an hour which is great seeing as all 3 of my kids were being seen. All of the staff was very friendly and so kind to my children. Everyone was very knowledgeable and professional. I did feel a bit rushed during conversations with the doctor but he did take the time to answer my questions even though he was obviously very busy. Overall it was a wonderful and positive experience.

I cannot recommend this practice enough. My four kids literally ask to go to the dentist! It’s that amazing!! The interior is always super clean, the design is bright, engaging, and minimalistic: perfect for kids eyes and nerves ;) they have video games, plenty of toys, and iPads for kids to play in the spacious waiting room. Once in the open-concept teeth cleaning room, there’s the “prize wall” in plain sight: perfect to remind kids what they get at the end of their visit. The staff are each amazing: every one seems happy, attentive to patients and families needs, and even go the extra mile to anticipate scheduling needs. I’d give it ten stars if I could!!!!!!! Thank you Chompers for making my kids feel relaxed and excited about seeing the dentist!!!

We were just seen for my kids 6 month cleaning/check up. We are new to the area and I had seen positive reviews of this dental clinic and I’m glad I went with them. Angie and Dr. David took great care of my kids, both of whom are on the autism spectrum, my son being severe (and nonverbal) and my daughter mild. Angie explained everything to my daughter, from what brother was getting done to when Dr. David was getting ready to see her. They also were able to put us in a private room so I could stay with both kids (our previous clinic in another state would put my son in a room and my daughter in the open area), which made the experience much less stressful. We can’t wait to go back!

My son had a wonderful first experience at Chompers today! It was such a positive experience from the time we walked in to the time we left. The staff was very friendly, the office super fun (I wish adult Dentist offices were like this one!!) and Dr. Hearce provided excellent care. As we were leaving, my son asked if we could go back once a month :)

Having a child on the spectrum that has meltdowns for various reasons, this dentist office tried to charge us a no show fee for being there but our son having a meltdown and not wanting to do back and be seen. This isn't how a practice should operate. They should understand this especially working with children. The dentist himself tries to seem so caring but he's not. Maybe a narcissist at best. I'd take my child to Dr Huie at Ocean of Smiles. He makes sure your kid is super comfortable, takes a picture to give to you and they get to pick a toy or 2 from a machine. It's a great place unlike Chompers.

While I am glad that some people feel they have had a great experience, I feel I have been hearing more negative than positive. I had my own negative experience with him and I honestly am not sure how or why he practices on children. My oldest son needed some dental work, please keep in my none of my kids have dental anxiety and are very well behaved at the dentist… I know this isn’t always the case. My son needed a tooth pulled, Dr. Herce at chompers refused and said that my son needed to be referred out and sedated. Even my son asked him why? The tooth had a giant hole from a filling falling out. He was fully aware the tooth needed to be pulled and or repaired. Well fast forward to me getting him in with another local dentist who was able to treat the tooth with just being numb. No nitrous or sedation. No complications. Now for my other son, he is 5. He needed a good bit of work, same situation of being referred out. The dentist at chompers took x-rays at the cleaning and then referred us out. The new location took x-rays as well after chompers said they did not have X-rays on file. When I asked for my son’s X-rays from chompers they noted he was too anxious and they did not complete them, therefore they did not bill them. When I explained that he told me he did X-rays dr herce told me I was mistaken. I was not. The new dentist then said insurance kicked back the X-rays because they were taken too soon after the others (the ones chompers claims they did not take and did not bill me for because my son was too anxious) we are 3 appointments in with the new dentist on treatment on just nitrous. We have one more final appointment to finish up his work, My son has done fantastic and never once have they said he needed to be sedated. I have never been so frustrated with a Dr and his unprofessionalism. Don’t waste your time, just go elsewhere.
